Sonic Youth descubrió para nosotros la gramática tímbrica como una posición política: reinventando la ejecución. El gesto-rock, así, se producía en el seno de la tradición: dos guitarras, bajo y batería; canciones, genealogía trash, consumismo justificado en la figura del fan G.Branca en formato pop, apropiándose de todo el masscult de los ochenta. La mejor posibilidad para recuperar el jean y las botas de gamuza y naftalizar los sobretodos-Blixa.
Con Ranaldo el concepto de ruido nos quedó chico y, casi naturalmente, tuvimos que agudizar los oídos frente a esa “bola” (como se llamaba al fuzz en la época de Héctor Starc) y establecer diferencias. Obviamente, aprendimos a citar en el centro de la estática.
(…) En ésta década, aprendimos a sumarle su noción de grunge y posterior canonización en la Nación Alternativa. Así y todo, siguieron interesándonos. (Litus D-Alma/g.r.o.)
