Había un tema en “Doolittle” que me encantaba, y tenía una primera parte directa, declaración frontal de amor, y una segunda que se va al carajo con tal de subir la violencia. “Uh es el sonido que la madre hace cuando el bebé se rompe”, no sé por qué a veces es necesario sentir una explosión de mala leche sin medir las consecuencias, y ahí estaba. Transmisión de pensamiento. Cambio y transición. La canción comienza y no es la misma. La música degenera el cambio plan(t)eado por el aire en movimiento. Si “hey” era un grito, ahora es uno mal practicado, un suspiro (?). Cuando ya no escuché nada, fue cuando empecé a entender casi todo. Dónde estaban cuando tanto los necesité… Homenaje a Lou Reed (“Walk on the wild side”) “y las putas como un coro van cantando uh! Toda la noche”. Estaba peleado con la música fuerte, con los gritos, me parecían al pedo, hasta este disco, por muy primera vez: acostarse a escuchar un disco y ponerse a saltar y gritar estas canciones (y esto pasó en muchos puntos del planeta). Los Pixies me mostraron como se puede ser cuadrado, potente y original. Lo creía imposible (“I could smile about it but there was a time when it was terrible”, decían The Smiths).
